WASHINGTON—The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced that federal disaster aid has been made available to the State of Mississippi to supplement the state and local recovery efforts in the area struck by flooding beginning on May 3, 2011, and continuing.

Jackson – Rapidly rising flood waters along the Mississippi River and its tributaries are forcing white-tailed deer and other wildlife to seek refuge on lands with higher ground, which can often be nearby flood protection levees.
